### New Functionality: New programmable actions for bots

Announced: September 9, 2018

New functionality: Programmable actions for bots

## What's happening?

We've added two new actions to bots that will allow developers to have direct control over bot responses: webhooks and snippets. Webhook actions will send data related of the current chat session to an external system, while snippets will let you run JavaScript code inside HubSpot as a step in the bot conversation.

## What's changing?

This updates adds two new [action options](https://knowledge.hubspot.com/articles/kcs_article/conversations/a-guide-to-bot-actions) when [creating or editing bots](https://knowledge.hubspot.com/articles/kcs_article/conversations/create-a-bot). The actions are described in detail on the pages below:

- [Working with webhooks](https://developers.hubspot.com/docs/methods/bots/working-with-webhooks-from-bots)
- [Running code snippets](https://developers.hubspot.com/docs/methods/bots/running-code-snippets)

## When is this happening?

Both of these features are currently live and available as actions for your bots.
